From April 2025 and 2027, the rules around long-term residence and pension wealth change materially.

For some, the impact is minimal.
For others, it alters estate exposure entirely.

This discussion is designed to help you determine which side of that line you sit on - and what action, if any, is required.

What You Will Leave With

By the end of the evening, you will understand:

  • Whether your pension wealth may fall within estate scope under proposed rules
  • If your estate exposure has increased in practical terms
  • Whether trusts, Family Investment Companies, or alternative structures warrant review
  • How recent tax reforms, including the end of the non-dom regime and adjustments to capital taxation may affect long-term estate positioning
  • How the UK compares with Spain, Portugal, Cyprus, France, Switzerland, and Monaco, for long-term positioning
  • The correct sequencing if restructuring is required
  • What not to do prematurely

Clarity on whether you need to act - or whether you can confidently hold your current position.

Why This Matters Now

The UK has moved toward a residence-based framework that materially alters inheritance exposure. At the same time, the long-standing non-dom regime is ending, further reshaping how internationally mobile wealth is taxed.

Unused pension wealth is expected to fall within inheritance tax scope from 2027. Long-term residence status now carries greater weight in estate positioning than many assume.

For estates above standard inheritance thresholds, these shifts are not theoretical. They may materially change long-term exposure.

The question is no longer academic.
It is whether your current structure still works under the updated framework.

Who This Is For

This discussion is relevant if you:

  • Hold significant pension assets and are reviewing legacy strategy
  • Expect inheritance exposure under the updated framework
  • Are internationally mobile or have lived abroad
  • Are considering retirement abroad and want to understand structural implications first
  • Are reviewing whether your current UK position remains efficient

What We Will Help You Assess

  • How the long-term residence framework interacts with inheritance planning
  • Whether pension wealth remains outside your estate under the proposed rules
  • Trust vs Family Investment Company comparisons - when each structure is appropriate
  • How Business Property Relief, AIM share portfolios and private company relief may behave under increased policy scrutiny
  • The potential impact of evolving capital gains and income tax treatment on entrepreneurial exits and wealth transfer planning
  • Jurisdictional comparisons for retirement planning across Spain, Portugal, Cyprus, France and the UAE
  • The practical timing window for restructuring

About The Discussion

This is not a public seminar. It is a small, in-person discussion designed for a curated audience of senior professionals, business owners and internationally mobile families reviewing long-term positioning. The format is conversational, practical and focused on real decision points rather than theoretical commentary.
